Known for its fluid movements, strong connection between partners, gorgeous hair whips, body isolations, and incredible music interpretation, Brazilian Zouk has exploded in popularity over the past decade.
Brazilian Zouk has evolved rapidly since it was first adapted from its roots of Lambada. The dance is now combined with a variety of music, including Caribbean Zouk music, which is how the dance came to be known as Zouk.
Brazilian Zouk is beautiful to watch, and extremely fun to dance! It is danced by people of all ages in night clubs, dance schools and events around the world.
Enjoy summer break and join us in August for a new session.
As one of the first structured Brazilian Zouk dance academies in the States, ZoukMia is now a premier dance institution based in Miami, Florida.
ZoukMia's founder and director, Kendra Haynes, is an inspiring and empowered woman who has dedicated her life to offering a fully structured dance program to her students. Kendra teaches as both a lead and follow and within one dance can identify a student's strengths and pinpoint areas for improvement.
The ZoukMia program leads students to strengthen their cores, establish a connection with a new community, and improve confidence all while experiencing the joy of dancing. ZoukMia offers programs for any skill level, from complete beginner to professional level dancers, as well as teacher certification courses.
To dance is to be out of yourself.
Larger, more beautiful,
This is power, it is glory on earth
and it is yours for the taking.

ZoukMia is a place of inclusiveness. Our mission is to introduce the language of dancing to our students so that they may incorporate its principles of communication, connectedness, and reciprocity into expressive movement on the dance floor and meaningful relationships beyond it. We strive to impart a high regard for the mastery of zouk fundamentals so that our dancers are equipped with a solid foundation upon which to expand their learning. Additionally, we seek to nurture a community in which respect for diversity and a commitment to safety is paramount for all members.
Zoukmia is THE place to learn Brazilian Zouk...I come from a salsa/bachata background and have always wanted to learn this dance. I love the fact that they teach in a very structured, professional yet kind and welcoming environment. They really do make hard concepts fun, and focus on foundations and technique, that honesty have helped me not only in becoming a much better dancer overall but also in knowing how to read your body. Also Zouk as a dance in general is by far the most inclusive and LGBTQ friendly I've seen!
I found ZoukMia in January of 2017, and started taking zouk classes for the first time. I have to say it is one of the best things I have ever done. To dance well with someone else requires discipline, muscle memory, patience and awareness of the your partner, who is trying to learn the same dance skills that you are—and learning these skills goes far beyond the dance floor. There really is no better place to learn these things from than Kendra Haynes Campanelli and her incredible instructors.
Meeting Kendra—and discovering zouk—is one of those moments when the universe adds a new color to your world. Zouk is a beautiful, exciting, and cutting-edge dance. Kendra is not only one of Zouk's world-class dancers but a truly extraordinary teacher as well. She expertly demonstrates technique and is very attentive to her students. Her attention to detail, her friendliness, and her upbeat attitude create a class where learning is fun and even the most complex patterns become mastered. I've found all of the instructors at ZoukMia to share the same mindset.
